From combustion type to wet two-stage oxidation method! A new analytical device for measuring TOC content has been introduced.

In this column, we introduce a case of TOC meter renewal at the wastewater treatment plant of the German recycled paper manufacturer Steinbeis Papier. The company has been using a high-temperature combustion oxidation method for TOC measurement for many years. While they were satisfied with this method, there were many cases where the measurement range of the existing product was insufficient. It was believed that in order to maintain the continuous reliability of online TOC values, which are essential for accurate plant control and trouble-free TOC decomposition, replacement due to equipment aging was necessary. Therefore, taking this opportunity for renewal, they decided to introduce a new analytical device to measure the TOC content at the entrance and exit of the wastewater treatment plant. [Overseas Case] Improving Water Treatment Plant Operations in Kansas

Not only easy to use, but also achieving outstanding total cost of ownership! Here we present case studies related to water treatment plants in the United States.

This facility, owned by the Douglas County Rural Water District 3 in Kansas, operates two water treatment plants and a distribution network of 280 miles (approximately 450 km). The facility faced several issues regarding TOC measurements, as the values obtained from existing equipment did not match those from a state-certified third-party organization that was sending samples. As a solution, they introduced the "QbD1200." This allowed them to obtain highly accurate TOC data necessary for optimizing coagulant treatment, and during the demo period, they brought samples to a certified lab in Lawrence, where they found a correlation between the "QbD1200" and the data from the city of Lawrence. The team gained new confidence in the measurements, enabling them to analyze and optimize the dosage of coagulants, control the process, and reduce unnecessary chemical treatments.
